Fares Not Fair on First Great Western

First for High Fares - First Great Western

Research by the Liberal Democrats shows just how a high price residents have to pay to travel on our local railways. At 70p per mile First Great Western is the most expensive train operating company to travel on in the United Kingdom.

Local Lib Dem campaigner, Julian Tisi said " If this was not bad enough government forces regulated fares to go up one per cent above the level of inflation every year and now that inflation has dropped to a low level the Train Operating Companies (TOCs) are asking for a floor to be under this to keep rises high!"

The Lib Dems are campaigning against these continuing excessive rail rises.
