Windsor Conservatives have promised low Council Tax but are finding other ways to take money from your pocket through Stealth Taxes

Windsor's Conservative Councillors can afford to pay themselves 91% higher allowances, but can't afford to run the local services that residents rely on. That's the verdict from local Lib Dems as the Conservatives begin a round of cuts at the council. According to reports in the local press up to 100 jobs could go as the Conservatives struggle to get to grips with a budget, already supported by massive extra borrowing of £6million.

Meanwhile Conservative claims to have reduced local taxation are shown to be slight of hand as Stealth Tax Charges for a range of council services rise way ahead of inflation.

"We now have a situation where the Conservatives are making cuts, whilst increasing the amount of money they take from residents in charges for everything from parking to home care for the frail elderly and creche provision for toddlers. Whilst they claim low rises in council tax - the Conservatives are in fact in fact simply moving taxation from one charge to all the others the council makes." says Windsor Lib Dem Julian Tisi

Lib Dems at the council will keep up the pressure to make sure that Conservative Cuts to front line services are minimised and that genuine efficiencies are made.
