Francis Chichester Close Flooding
Residents from Francis Chichester Close have long suffered from flooding in their road every time there is a heavy down pour. Following a round of Focuses they contacted the Focus team to take action. After organising a street survey to identify all the issues, the Lib Dems then organised a letter writing campaign to the council. Following the campaign the council cleaned out the drains and sumps and then conducted a CCTV inspection which revealed that tree roots had broken through into the drain causing a blockage. The council then organised to have the tree roots cut out. Following the works we conducted a follow up survey after the next heavy rainfall to check things had improved. This is not a permanent solution, as without the drains being relined the roots are likely to grow through again, but it can alleviate the problem in the short run. The Liberal Democrats' Focus Teams are all volunteers - unlike the Local Conservatives we don't have any paid staff. The amount of case work we can handle depends on ordinary people volunteering to help us win for our community. If you think you could help the Liberal Democrats run this sort of campaign please get in touch.
