Make It FreeMake It Free is part of the the local Liberal Democrats campaign to protect free waste collection services. Make It Free follows on from the successful "Keep It Free" campaign run last year. The Objectives of Make It Free are to get the fortnightly Green waste collection made into a free part of the council's waste and recycling services as it is in other parts of the country. Currently the Conservatives are charging residents £29 a year to have their Green Waste collected - thereby discriminating against the less affluent and deterring proper reuse of this resource. Keep It FreeKeep It Free was the successful campaign run by Windsor & Maidenhead Liberal Democrats during 2008 to stop the Conservatives replacing the Free Booked Weekend Garden Waste Collection with a charged £29 a year fortnightly collection. The campaign was successful in stopping the Conservatives from abolishing the free service. Instead the Conservatives decided to run both services in parallel. To use the free service ring 01628 - 796844 and ask to book a collection. The Service operates alternate weeks with collections being made in Miadenhead one weekend and in Windsor & Ascot the following weekend. If you encounter problems accessing the service let us know by e-mailing keepitfree@windsorlibdems.org.uk.
