Over the second half of 2008 the Liberal Democrats ran a successful campaign to stop plans to build a 600-700 space multi-storey car park (providing 400-500 extra spaces) at Alexandra Gardens in Castle Without Ward in central Windsor.

The Plan would have:

  • Spoilt the park and the Thames Riverscape

  • Made traffic in the Town Centre even worse

  • Cost Council Tax Payers around £10million

The Lib Dems fought a strong Campaign which included collecting a petition with over 1200 signatures and building an on-line group on the social networking site "Facebook" with over 3500 members at peak all opposed to the scheme.
