Record claim for ICT payments

THE total allowances claimed by Royal Borough councillors rose last year to a total of £582,362.05 - up £12,000 from last year.

The figures include the second highest total mileage allowance claimed by councillors - £8,686.25 - since mileage payments were bought in in 2003/04 and the highest ever ICT payments.

Seven councillors - Christine Bateson, Malcolm Beer, Phil Bicknell, Andrew Jenner, John Lenton, Sayonara Luxton and Michael Saunders - claimed more than £500 in mileage allowance.

A total of 21 councillors claimed the maximum of £250 ICT allowance - with a further three claiming more than £240 - contributing to a total of 7,033.25 in ICT allowance payments.

This is the highest amount claimed since the ICT payments were introduced in 2008/09. In 2011/12, £4,163.11 was claimed in total.
