Lib Dems call for a New Political System for the New Year

Only a new political system will stop abuses like our local Conservative Councillors voting themselves 91% pay rises

Britain needs to fundamentally change its political system in 2010, not just change the political party in charge and only the Liberal Democrats, as the only truly democratic party of the big three, have the long term track record of commitment to that change. A vote for Cameron's Conservatives, with their shaky record on freedom, democracy and the environment would be a backward step. That's the New Year message from Windsor Lib Dems.

"With their long term commitment to electoral and constitutional reform, civil and political rights and social justice, only the Lib Dems are really ready to bring about real change in Britain. People who really want to change the political system should vote for the party with the most consistent long term commitment to that change, that party is the Liberal Democrats."

says Windsor's Lib Dem spokesman, Julian Tisi.

"A strong vote for the Liberal Democrats is the best way for the public to tell David Cameron, Gordon Brown and the old parties that things must change."

Local Government election results point to the Lib Dem's growing strength across the country. Under the headline, 'No Brown bounce as Lib Dems surge' the Independent reported that in in recent by-elections contested by the three main parties the Lib Dems had come first taking 36% of all votes cast, followed by the Conservatives on 32% and Labour on 21%.
