Families across the borough are set to benefit from a further £600,000 investment in local play parks, with plans to refurbish the play areas at Boyn Grove, Grenfell Park and Vansittart Park. The improvements will include new play equipment, upgraded surfacing and accessibility improvements, helping to create modern, inclusive spaces for children and families.

This latest investment builds on the successful refurbishment of the popular pirate-themed play area at Clewer Memorial Recreation Ground and the new play area at Oaken Grove Park, both of which have reopened and proved extremely popular with local families.

The programme forms part of the Liberal Democrat administration's commitment to investing in parks, open spaces and neighbourhood facilities across the borough. The play areas selected for refurbishment were identified through inspections and shaped by feedback from residents.

Cllr Mark Wilson, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, Leisure & Performance, said:

"We're committed to investing in the facilities that matter most to local residents. High-quality play areas give children opportunities to be active, imaginative and social, while providing welcoming community spaces for families. The fantastic response to the improvements at The Pirate Park and Oaken Grove shows just how valued these facilities are, and I'm delighted that we're now moving forward with further investment at Boyn Grove, Grenfell Park and Vansittart Park."

The refurbishment works are expected to be completed by February 2027, delivering three more improved play areas for residents across the borough.
