Peascod Street Cobbles Symptomatic of Tory Incompetence on Transport brief

21 Aug 2009

The Windsor Express reported this week that repairs to the cobbles in Peascod Street are falling apart almost before they are finished. Quoted in the Express one Windsor Conservative councillor was at least honest enough to own up to the Conservatives' failings saying, "some of the work done has been shocking" and also admitting that the Conservative councillors, "have got to get smarter with contractors".

The cobbles are symptomatic of a whole series of Conservative failings on Transport within the Royal Borough, which so far include:

Cancelling the proposed M4 Park & Ride & the expensive alternatives proposed instead by the Conservatives

(Wycombe is getting a new Park & Ride instead of Windsor now)

Threatening to build a new multi-storey car park at Alexandra Gardens

Failing to repair the rising bollard which is meant to keep traffic out of Peascod Street

Cuts to Maidenhead's bus services

Incredible traffic jams during special events in Windsor

and the New Traffic Lights on the junctions of Imperial Road, Winkfield Road, St Leonard's Road and Clewer Hill Road which are causing much frustration to some residents.
