Supporting independent living and faster help for Windsor residents
We’re making real progress in strengthening housing support — helping more Windsor residents live independently while ensuring those in need have access to safe, stable accommodation.
New Supported Homes in Windsor
We’re delighted that plans have been approved for 22 high‑quality supported homes for adults with learning disabilities in Windsor.
This development will:
- Enable more residents to live independently
- Keep people closer to their families and local support networks
- Reduce the need for out-of-borough placements
It’s a people-focused approach that improves quality of life while making better use of public resources. Alongside this, we’re enhancing the day services that have been provided Oakbridge Centre, ensuring families are fully supported through the transition to new premises.
Faster support through John West House
We’re also speeding up delivery of John West House, our new purpose-built homelessness support facility in Maidenhead — which will support residents from across the borough, including Windsor.
By appointing an interim operator, we can bring the site into use sooner, providing:
- Safe, secure accommodation
- On-site support services
- A clear pathway back to independence
This is an important step in strengthening local housing support and ensuring Windsor residents facing difficult circumstances can access help quickly and closer to home.
Together, these initiatives show our commitment to delivering housing that is practical, compassionate and built around the needs of Windsor residents.
